Spring is about to get a whole lot better as 888poker is set to let out all the goodies with its annual XL Spring Series. This year, the series will start on May 21 and run till June 6, with a total of 32 events lined up for players. More exciting is the news that the 888poker XL Spring Series 2023 is offering a mammoth guaranteed prize pool totalling $2 million.
With a large variety of buy-in values for all categories of players and a sizable number of side events, the XL Spring Series is all set to be the poker event of the season. Buy-ins for the event start from as low as $5.50, going all the way to $525. For most events, the average buy-in is about $55, which is quite impressive.
The schedule reveals that most events at the Series will be one-day activities. However, players will experience two Day 2 events on May 29 and June 5 in what promises to be the most rewarding tournaments in the series. Ultimately, a live-streamed final table will be available on the last days of each multi-flight tournament.
A Close Look at the Schedule for the XL Spring Series 2023
In 2022, the main event of the XL Spring Series did not include a mystery bounty tournament style. It offered a guaranteed $500,000 prize pool with a $250 buy-in, attracting 2,173 players. The event was won by player “Instinctym” from Andorra who entered a heads-up deal with “alanchi,” both players winning $65,608 and $56,387, respectively.
This year, the main event is titled “The Main Event Mystery” and is incredibly similar to the last edition. It costs $250 buy-in to participate while the prize pool is also capped off at a guaranteed $500,000. This event is only one of two multi-flight tournaments. The second is the $200K Mystery Bounty 8-Max set to kick off on May 24.
Day 1 for this mystery bounty tournament will run from May 24 to 29, while Day 2 is scheduled to start at 21:00 GMT on May 29. All of the Day 1s will end when 14% of the field is left and the surviving players will move on to Day 2 and compete for the mystery bounties. Day 2 will proceed until there are only eight contestants remaining, after which these finalists will compete on May 30 at 19:00 GMT.
As for the Main Event, dozens of flights will run from May 31 to June 5. Each flight will terminate at the 18th level or with only 14% of the contestants left. Day 2 will begin at 21:00 GMT, continuing until there are only nine finalists. These contestants will play until 19:00 on June 6 till there is a champion.
The very first event to set the ground running at 15:00 GMT on May 21 is the $10,000 XL Spring Sunday Big Shot 33. It costs a buy-in amount of $33 and offers a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. Bigger rewards tournament will follow thereafter at 18:00 GMT with the $120K XL Spring #02 – Mystery Bounty Opening which costs $109.
